Description: Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc., is a firearm and investment castings manufacturer headquartered in Southport, CT with firearm manufacturing operations located in Newport, NH and Prescott, AZ. The Newport, NH Division is looking for a Product Engineer.
Education: Must have a B.S. in M.E., M.E.T., or related field.
Experience: Must have at least 2 to 5 years experience in a Manufacturing Engineering position. Prefer experience launching new products and processes.
Description
- Gage R&R studies and improvement of poor gaging.
- Process capability studies and process improvements.
- CAD design using Solidworks.
- Fixture and gage design.
- Shop floor troubleshooting and problem solving in heavy machining environment.
- Working on Kaizen teams to implement Lean Manufacturing and product improvements.
- Lead new product development and current product design improvements.
- Provide technical expertise to product engineering, manufacturing and quality.
- Improve existing Processes to address issues with manufacturing and quality.
- Use tools such as GD&T and tolerance stack-ups to facilitate Process robustness.
- Manage Process related issues and projects as assigned.
- Write Capital Expenditure Requisitions and procure new equipment.
- Application of Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma tools.
- Assure manufacturing has the appropriate prints, BOM's, and other documentation to be able to execute production.
- Design and facilitate launch of new products, derivative variations and special orders, by coordinating with:
- Sales and marketing
- Suppliers and purchasing
- Manufacturing engineering and manufacturing
- Quality
- Act as point person for coordinating timely launch of special orders.
- Procure samples and conduct product testing as required to assure validated design of products and design changes.
- Provide technical expertise relating to product designs to manufacturing and quality.
- Improve existing platform designs to address issues with manufacturing and quality.
- Champion and process ECO's as required to facilitate changes.
- Improve documentation such as prints and BOM's to support improvements in manufacture. Use tools such as GD&T and tolerance stackups to facilitate this.
- Work design related issues and projects as assigned.
